Available at: Amazon – Kindle – Barnes and Noble
From Goodreads:
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself–and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
I’ve had this book on my wish list for quite some time. I’m glad I finally got to it because it’s easy to read and engaging. Basically it’s a dystopian science fiction type of book with a lot of romance.
Right now I can’t wait to find out what happens to America. I just got to the part where she met Prince Maxom and I had to tear myself away from the book to blog and do assorted things on the computer as well as eat and whatnot. Hopefully I can squeeze in more time to read this morning as I don’t really have anything planned. At least there’s nothing that can’t wait!
I’m about a third of the way through Jonathan Carroll’s “Sleeping in Flame”. The magical parts of his magical realism are really starting to get going at this point!
I just love it when the book starts getting good. It’s so hard to tear myself away from it though! 🙂
This one sounds good. I have to admit that I’m a little wary of most YA novels but I might give this one some extra consideration.
America isn’t your typical YA heroine. That’s for sure!
